Sid C. Dorris Endowment Fund

During the 69th Triennial, the Sid C. Dorris Endowment Fund was established. It was named after Sir KnightSid Cornelius Dorris, III, GCT, Right Eminent Past Grand Generalissimo of the Grand Encampment who passed away while in office in November 2010. As a Grand Encampment officer, Sir Knight Dorris envisioned a way to ensure the permanency of the Grand Encampment which would allow us to focus solely on the Eye Foundation, the Holy Land Pilgrimage, and sustaining the chivalric character of the Knights of the Order. Sadly with his death, the idea of this endowment fund was lost. Sir Knight Michael Johnson implemented the plan to create this endowment fund and it was carried out under the governance of Sir Knight David Kussman.

The purpose of this fund is to use the interest only to fund the regular administrative functions of the Grand Encampment permanently and avoid future pressure to continue to raise dues from year to year. This fund is a way Sir Knights can invest in the preservation of Templary into the future.

A Knight, a Commandery, or anyone can contribute any amount to the Endowment at any time. Sir Knights who make a $1,000 donation to this fund will receive a medal to be worn on the right side of the Templar uniform. The Grand Encampment wishes to make it clear that donations to this fund are not tax deductible.

The fund not only honors the legacy of Sid C. Dorris III, but also ensures that the values and principles of the Knights Templar are perpetuated for future generations.

For any Sir Knight wishing to contribute, they are asked to call the Grand Recorders office (contact information is at the bottom of the page).
